In a world fraught with threats, the Solenoid and its siphon, collectively known as the hub, stand as beacons of resilience. These two remarkable machines are not just tools; they form the lifeblood of towns, enabling them to withstand dangers lurking beyond. As the Phases hover ominously outside, this hub offers hope—a promise of safety and the chance to thrive amidst uncertainty.
A Sacred Mechanical Marvel
Standing before the majestic siphon, one cannot help but appreciate the intricate engineering at play. This is no ordinary machinery; it symbolizes hopes and dreams. The siphon towers above, approximately twice as tall as a man, its continuous hum serves as a reminder of existence within invisible walls.
Once a shining example of craftsmanship, some siphons now reveal a patina of rust, reminding of time's passage. Yet, its imposing structure remains a vital center of any community, safeguarding from the chaos outside.
The Heart of the Barrier
The siphon is more than just an impressive sight. Inside, it houses the very heart of defense against Phases, and at its pinnacle, a towering metal spire extends skyward, distributing energy to create the barrier that protects all.
At the heart of the siphon’s operation is the Solenoid, a crucial component that energizes the siphon’s functions. The Solenoid supplies the siphon with the energy needed to create the barrier, ensuring protection. The dynamic relationship between the Solenoid and the siphon is complex yet vital. Without the Solenoid, the barrier falls.
If the Solenoid falters, towns become vulnerable, underscoring the crucial role of this mechanical symbiosis in daily lives.
The Importance of the Barrier
The barrier created by the hub is more than a simple structure; it embodies collective hopes. Beyond this sphere of protection lies the Phases—heartless entities that kill without mercy. This barrier instills a sense of community and fortitude.
Citizens often gather near the hub, united by the understanding of what it represents: protection, strength, and refusal to succumb to fear. When faced with adversity, towners find comfort in knowing that the barrier stands firm—a testament to resilience.
Paying the Service
Solenoids don't last forever. Over time, its energy depletes, and a replacement is needed. Replacing a Solenoid requires a specific offering: a task known as "paying the service." Only Résonateurs can pay the service. Towns without a Résonateur to volunteer are left to their fate—the mercy of Phases.
