Aboard the Fulgurant: Meet the Crew Who Will Carry Gavril to the Paramount

Updated: May 23

The Fulgurant
The Fulgurant

The Fulgurant is not just a soulever—it's a force. A gleaming titan that cuts across the sky like a blade, helmed by Commandant Serein and crewed by a cast as unforgettable as the journey they undertake. When Gavril leaves behind everything she’s ever known, it is this vessel—and these people—who carry her forward into the unknown.

But not all allies are easy to trust. And not all threats wear fangs.

Deryn, the Chief Aérien Opérateur

Deryn

She’s young. Brilliant. Unmatched in the skies. Deryn was born in the windy, grassy isles of Heortefeld, but sent to Premier Esprit at a young age. What sets her apart isn’t just her skill at the controls of the Fulgurant, but the easy confidence and laughter that draws people in. She and Gavril bond quickly, forming a rare spark of friendship amid the tension of the mission. If Deryn has fears, she hides them behind sharp turns and sharper grins.

Hervé, the Adjutant

At first glance, Hervé seems like a man who gave up a long time ago. His uniform is usually wrinkled, his boots dusty, his dull green eyes half-lidded with disinterest. But there is a weight to Hervé that can’t be ignored—a stillness like the deep before the storm. Serein trusts him implicitly, and even Bibiane defers to him on matters beyond protocol. What few know is that Hervé’s past carries a sorrow so vast it changed the course of his life . . . and made him the last kind of man to take lightly.

Bibiane, the Archiviste

Bibiane
Bibiane

No one respects order like Bibiane. Clad in tidy layers and clipped tones, she oversees records, logistics, and every piece of data passing through the ship with her vigile—a sleek metal device the size of a page, fed with information by the tip of a stylus-quill. She is not fond of improvisation, nor of Serein’s recent decision to escort Gavril to the Paramount himself. To Bibiane, the girl is a complication . . . and complications are dangerous.

Ciseau and Marteau, the Twin Guards

Ciseau and Marteau
Ciseau and Marteau

You’ll hear them before you see them—often mid-laughter or mid-threat. Ciseau and Marteau are the Fulgurant's enigmas—mirror-image twins with wicked smiles and matching madness. One moment they’re speaking in riddles, the next they're whispering things that feel like veiled warnings. Gavril feels it immediately: something is wrong with them. Whether they’re jesters or something far darker remains unclear, but one thing is certain—the air shifts when they’re near.

The world beyond barriers is treacherous, and the path to the Paramount is long. But Gavril will not travel it alone. These are her companions. Her guardians. Her threats. And somewhere between the clouds, the siphons' hum, and the echoes of the past, their true natures will be revealed.
